EMS Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact Model Legislation Distributed to States

Model legislation, the “Recognition of EMS Personnel Licensure Interstate CompAct” (“REPLICA”), was recently distributed to State EMS Directors and State EMS Medical Directors by the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO). In order to become a member of the compact, a state would need to pass REPLICA without substantial changes. Click here to read the draft legislation.

REPLICA was developed over a two-year period by a group of stakeholders brought together by NASEMSO. NVFC EMS/Rescue Section Chair, Ken Knipper, participated in the development of the model legislation representing the Section.

“This is a very important project,” said Knipper. “The adoption of the compact will make it easier for EMS personnel in different states to cooperate in the delivery of services. I encourage volunteer fire, EMS, and rescue personnel to work to have REPLICA is adopted in their states.”
