April is National Safe Digging Month, and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) asks that all public safety personnel help raise awareness and promote the importance of calling 811 before digging. Calling this national toll-free number before starting a digging project prevents accidents 99 percent of the time.
