Application Period Now Open for FEMA’s Grant Programs
April 28, 2020
The application period is now open for FEMA’s three major grant programs. The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants support the recruitment and retention of firefighters. The Fire Prevention & Safety (FP&S) grants support projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards. A special round of Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) supports purchasing PPE required for COVID-19 response.
These grants are critical sources of funding to help departments obtain needed resources. Apply for the grants to support the three key pillars of staffing, equipment, and community risk reduction programs.
NVFC Maryland director Dave Lewis recently wrote an article for Fire Engineering with tips for grant writing success. He previously wrote an article explaining why these federal grants are important for the fire service. Find additional resources for grant writing here.
