2016 National Volunteer Fire Council Training Summit: Call for Presentations

Proposals due by January 4, 2016
 
The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its second Training Summit on June 3-4, 2016, in Grapevine, TX, in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area. The NVFC is now accepting proposals from qualified instructors and speakers for presentations to educate first responders about important health and safety topics and/or fire prevention methodologies and implementation. Submit your proposal by January 4, 2016. 
 
The Training Summit provides an opportunity to share ideas and best practices, network, and participate in training regarding first responder health and safety issues and fire prevention topics. Each presentation will be 80 minutes in length. Presentation subject matter should relate to key topics related to first responder health and safety. Examples include, but are not limited to:
  • Cancer
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Behavioral health
  • Fire service family support
  • Fire prevention
  • Staffing and recruitment
  • Functional fitness 
 
To submit your speaker proposal, fill out the form at https://nvfc.wufoo.com/forms/2016-nvfc-training-summit-speaker-proposal/. Proposals are due by January 4, 2016. A peer review team will evaluate all presentation proposals. Selections will be made based on quality, relevance, focus, practical application, and the presenter’s experience and credentials. Selected presenters will be notified in January 2016. The NVFC will cover travel expenses and provide a stipend for the selected presenters The NVFC will provide attendees with electronic copies of handouts and presentations (by instructor request) prior to the Summit. Instructors will be responsible for providing any print-outs they choose to give to students.
