Hawaii Employer shall pay funeral expenses not to exceed 10 times the maximum weekly benefit rate. Burial expenses shall not exceed 5 times the weekly benefit rate. Payments paid directly to the mortician and cemetery selected by the family or next of kin. If expenses are prepaid, benefits go directly to the survivors or next of kin.

South Dakota When injury causes death, the family is eligible for a maximum of $5,000 for burial expenses, including expense of a headstone grave marker. Employer also pays expense of transporting the body to the community where the employee will be buried.
