This site from FEMA includes information on declared disasters and emergencies, types of disasters, and maps.
The Department of Homeland Security's Ready Campaign designed this toolkit to provide emergency response agencies with a series of planning tools to help prepare their personnel and their families for emergencies. The toolkit provides resources on how to develop an organizational preparedness plan; examples of how to promote individual, family, and organizational preparedness; and engage other agencies and departments in these efforts. There are also sample newsletter articles, media pitch templates, and other press materials that can be used to develop and distribute internal and external preparedness messaging.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created this site to increase the nation's ability to prepare for and respond to public health emergencies.
Fire Corps developed this Resource Center to provide tools, resources, and materials that departments can use to help ready themselves and their community for emergency situations. Topic areas include Fire Corps Program resources, weather-related emergencies, terrorism-related emergencies, health-related emergencies, and state and local resources.
The NVFC, in partnership with the U.S. Fire Administration, created a Terrorism Awareness Guide as a resource for terrorism preparedness planning. It serves as a compendium of resources and links regarding grants, training and learning, informational tools and DHS standards and guidelines. It also includes a basic overview of the Department of Homeland Security.
The NVFC created a resource center to help fire/EMS departments prepare their communities for hurricanes.
Volunteer firefighters whose homes have been impacted by a state- or federally-declared disaster can apply for financial assistance through the NVFC Volunteer Firefighter Support Fund.
Fire Safety for Children
FEMA, the U.S. Fire Administration, and the National Commission on Children and Disasters, have teamed up to call families and communities to take action to keep our nation's children safe.
