Disasters can occur at any time. It is important to always be prepared and ready. Visit these resources to learn how you can protect yourself, your families, and your communities when disaster strikes. 
 
This site from FEMA includes information on declared disasters and emergencies, types of disasters, and maps.
 
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created this site to increase the nation's ability to prepare for and respond to public health emergencies.
 
Fire Corps developed this Resource Center to provide tools, resources, and materials that departments can use to help ready themselves and their community for emergency situations. Topic areas include Fire Corps Program resources, weather-related emergencies, terrorism-related emergencies, health-related emergencies, and state and local resources.
 
The NVFC, in partnership with the U.S. Fire Administration, created a Terrorism Awareness Guide as a resource for terrorism preparedness planning. It serves as a compendium of resources and links regarding grants, training and learning, informational tools and DHS standards and guidelines. It also includes a basic overview of the Department of Homeland Security.
 
The NVFC created a resource center to help fire/EMS departments prepare their communities for hurricanes.
 
Volunteer firefighters whose homes have been impacted by a state- or federally-declared disaster can apply for financial assistance through the NVFC Volunteer Firefighter Support Fund.
