National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) Chairman Philip C. Stittleburg was among the panelists at a safety roundtable hosted by the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) and Firehouse.com on June 15. A podcast of the discussion is now available on Firehouse.com. The roundtable and podcast were held as part of Fire/EMS Safety, Health, and Survival Week (or Safety Week), taking place June 14-20.

 

In addition to Stittleburg, panelists included Acting U.S. Fire Administrator Glenn Gaines; Billy Goldfeder and Robert Dube of the International Association of Fire Chiefs; Rich Duffy and James Brinkley of the International Association of Fire Fighters; Ron Siarnicki and John Proels of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation; Susan Nicol Kyle of Firehouse.com; and Al Conners, Burt Clark, and Bill Troup of USFA. Topics included size-up concerns, mental health issues, the impact of budgets on firefighter safety, obstacles to improving firefighter safety, and more.
