Craig Fugate Confirmed as FEMA Administrator
Craig Fugate, President Obama’s nominee for administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), was confirmed on May 12 by a voice vote in the U.S. Senate. Fugate, who began his emergency services career as a volunteer firefighter and most recently served as the Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, is expected to be sworn in before the traditional beginning of hurricane season on June 1.
