CHEMTREC Releases DVD to Assist First Responders
When faced with an incident involving hazardous materials or dangerous goods, emergency responders need quick access to a reliable resource that can provide critical and immediate assistance directly to the scene. CHEMTREC (Chemical Transportation Emergency Center) is a 24/7/365 emergency call center that provides immediate information and assistance to anyone involved in a hazardous materials incident. It is staffed with emergency service specialists who can provide access to hazmat experts, chemists, physicians, and toxicologists as well as millions of material safety data sheets.
In order to reach the emergency response community, CHEMTREC has released a training video, CHEMTREC – An Overview for Emergency Responders, which aims to familiarize first responders with the call center and the services it provides. Having first responders know who to call during a hazmat incident is vital for the safety of all parties involved.
“We will be successful when every emergency responder knows our number by heart and takes advantage of our services,” said Randy Speight, Managing Director of CHEMTREC. “Our experienced staff is available around the clock to anyone, anywhere who is dealing with an incident involving hazardous materials or dangerous goods.”
In an effort to bring pertinent hazmat information to the volunteer community, the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is working with CHEMTREC and other groups to provide access to valuable training and educational resources.
