FY2009 AFG Workshop Schedule Announced

The Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program Office has released the schedule for its FY2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grants workshops. Continuing through March 2009, these workshops will be held around the country to provide information about how to submit a competitive application under this grant program. The workshop schedule is available at www.firegrantsupport.com and will be updated daily with any new or revised information about the scheduled workshops.

Interested representatives from fire departments as well as representatives from non-affiliated EMS organizations are invited to attend the workshops. Information will be presented on program changes, program priorities, eligibility requirements, and on the application process. Also, general assistance in the writing of a competitive narrative for a department's grant application will be discussed.

Applicant workshops are conducted by AFG regional staff and are free to all attendees. Each workshop is about 2 hours long. All workshops utilize the same PowerPoint material, which will also be available on the AFG web site at www.firegrantsupport.com starting in mid-February.

The AFG Program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Grants Program Directorate in coordination with the U.S. Fire Administration. Stay tuned to the AFG web site at www.firegrantsupport.com for more information about the grant as it becomes available, including the application period, the online applicant tutorial, frequently asked questions, and the FY2009 AFG Program Guidance.
