NVFC and Baskin-Robbins® Team Up to Support Junior Firefighters
31 Cent Scoop Night provides fundraising opportunity for local departments
The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and Baskin-Robbins® are teaming up to strengthen the future of the volunteer fire service - junior firefighters. During Baskin-Robbins 3rd annual 31 Cent Scoop Night, which will be held on April 29 from 5-10 p.m., Baskin-Robbins stores will reduce the price of ice cream scoops to 31 cents to honor America’s firefighters and create an opportunity for fire service organizations to raise funds for their department. Additionally, Baskin-Robbins will donate $100,000 to support the NVFC National Junior Firefighter Program.
There are many ways fire departments can get involved. Contact your local Baskin-Robbins store or visit www.baskinrobbins.com/firefighters to learn more. Ways to participate include:
- Partner with a local Baskin-Robbins store to have firefighters or junior firefighters scoop ice cream during the event.
- Have a “boot drive” at the event to raise funds for your department.
- Park a fire truck outside the Baskin-Robbins store to attract attention to the local department and the purpose of the event.
- Use the opportunity to have department personnel meet with community members and increase positive community relations.
- Distribute important fire prevention and safety messages to consumers.
- Consider making a department donation to support the National Junior Firefighter Program and the future of the fire service.
There is a great need to promote youth participation in the fire service. The National Junior Firefighter Program works to reverse the trends of a declining number of volunteer firefighters and an aging fire service population by fostering the next generation of first responders. The program provides resources and tools for departments and youths to start, manage, recruit for, and participate in a local junior firefighter program. The donation from Baskin-Robbins to the National Junior Firefighter Program will go towards providing scholarships to junior firefighters and offering even more resources and information through the National Junior Firefighter Program.
