2009 Fire Corps Award of Excellence Nominations Due September 4
Does your department have an outstanding Fire Corps program you would like to recognize? Nominate this remarkable team for the 2009 Fire Corps Award of Excellence. Sponsored by the International Fire Service Training Association and the Oklahoma State University Fire Protection Publications, the Fire Corps Award of Excellence annually honors a Fire Corps program whose achievements in the fire and emergency services and the community exemplify outstanding performance.
Fire Corps teams across the country provide support to their fire and emergency service departments through a variety of activities. From public fire prevention education to administration to equipment maintenance and much more, these dedicated volunteers perform critical non-emergency tasks so that their department’s first responders can focus on training and emergency response.
To be considered for the award, nominees must be registered with Fire Corps and must be a fire/EMS department, or affiliated with a fire/EMS department. Candidate programs must have been active for at least one year at time of nomination, and the actions or achievements of the program must have made a positive impact in allowing the fire/EMS department to respond to the needs of the community and assist in making that community safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to emergencies of all kinds. Eligible programs include auxiliaries, junior firefighter programs, and other non-emergency support programs that meet the criteria for a Fire Corps program and are registered with the national Fire Corps office. Registration is free; click here to register.
The selection of the Fire Corps Award of Excellence recipient will be determined through a nationwide nomination process. Nominations must be received by September 4.
