Pet Fire Safety Day

Pet Fire Safety Day was July 15, and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) partnered with ADT Security Services and the American Kennel Club to educate pet owners about potential risks when pets are left home alone as well as provide the public with fire prevention and home safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone in the household, including pets. With an estimated 500,000 pets affected by home fires each year, Pet Fire Safety Day is designed to educate the public on how they can prevent and prepare for emergencies and present solutions for reducing these tragic instances.

As part of these activities, ADT is distributing pet window clings that community members can put in their windows to alert rescuers as to the number and types of pets in the house. Fire departments across the country have partnered for this initiative to provide window clings to everyone who wants one. Below is a listing of fire departments that serve as distribution points for the window clings. Simply go to the closest location to get your free window cling. Clings can also be ordered from www.adt.com/pets.
