Columbia Southern University Scholarships

Columbia Southern University (CSU) and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) have teamed up to offer two scholarships to members of the NVFC to attend CSU. Scholarships include tuition and textbooks. The scholarships are awarded through a competitive application process.

Scholarship Requirements & Guidelines

 
Requirements:
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be a Personal Member of the National Volunteer Fire Council. If you are not a member, join at www.nvfc.org.
 
Guidelines:
  • CSU will award one (1) Two-Year Associate’s Degree Scholarship and one (1) Two-Year Bachelor’s Degree Scholarship. Applicants must be members of the NVFC. Recipients will be selected by a scholarship review committee based on a competitive application process.
  • The award will be for two (2) academic years and will be applied directly to the student’s tuition.
  • All applications, scholarship essays, and recommendations must be submitted to the NVFC by 5 pm EDT on June 15, 2009. Completed application packets can be submitted through the online form, or by mail, email, or fax.
  • The individuals who are selected will need to submit a photo for use in CSU and NVFC materials regarding the scholarship, including in newsletters and web sites. Applicants must agree that their photo and profile information may be used in CSU and NVFC materials if they are selected to receive a scholarship.
  • The individuals who are selected must maintain a 3.5 overall GPA, remain in good standing, and remain enrolled in a CSU degree program to maintain eligibility for the scholarship. Once an individual has completed two academic years, the scholarship ceases. All remaining funds of the scholarship not used by the student will revert to CSU.
  • Recipients of the award may reapply for the scholarship. No student may receive the scholarship more than twice.
