The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund Assists Firefighters and their Families

The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund assists firefighters and their families with educational, medical, and equipment needs. Chapters have been established in Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

The Fund was established in memory of Terry Farrell, a decorated member of Rescue 4/FDNY and Chief of the Dix Hills Volunteer Fire Department. Terry was one of 343 firefighters that perished in the September 11, 2001, World Trade Center attack.

The mission of the Terry Farrell Fund is to support the firefighters who serve our communities. Grants are available to firefighters and their families based on need for purposes including special education, emergency medical assistance, line-of-duty death, illness of the firefighter, or illness of a child of a firefighter. Educational scholarships, financial support, and fundraising assistance are also provided in the event of an LODD, significant illness, or injury. In addition, the Fund has established a surplus equipment program where good, usable fire equipment and gear is collected from departments that don’t need it and distributed to those that do. Turnout gear, hoses, helmets, and vehicles have successfully been provided free of charge to departments across the country thanks to this program.

Requests for assistance can be made through the appropriate state chapters. Contact information can be found on the organization’s web site at http://terryfund.org/contact.htm.
