Register Now for the National Junior Firefighter Academy, October 8

Free training opportunity is open to youth and advisors nationwide

The National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) National Junior Firefighter Program has partnered with Tyco International and Scott Safety to bring the National Junior Firefighter Academy to North Carolina this fall. Classroom and hands-on training, plus a tour and product demonstrations, will take place on Saturday, October 8, at the Scott Safety Headquarters in Monroe, NC.

A morning classroom session will provide two separate courses, one for junior firefighters and one for program advisors. Junior firefighters will cover topics including youth leadership and activity ideas, while program advisors will learn about serving as a youth mentor and junior firefighter safety, among other subjects. After a lunch hosted by the NVFC, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Scott Safety facility and view product demonstrations. The day will wrap up with a hands-on training challenge.

“Scott Safety and Tyco International are proud to be partnered with the National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) National Junior Firefighter Program, and excited to host the National Junior Firefighter Academy at Scott Safety Headquarters in Monroe, NC, on Saturday, October 8th,” said Jeff Emory, Marketing Manager – Fire Service. “At Scott we are always looking for ways to support and give back to those that do so much for our communities. The National Junior Firefighter Academy provides us a great opportunity to support the volunteer firefighting community, by cultivating a passion for the fire service and developing the leadership skills for the next generation of firefighters. We hope everyone who is able can participate, and look forward to a great academy on October 8th.”
