Public Information Officer Awareness Training

The Emergency Management Institute is now offering its new Public Information Officer (PIO) Awareness Training Course online. The course introduces new or less experienced PIOs with an orientation to the public information function and the role of the PIO in the public safety/emergency management environment.

Topics addressed in this course include understanding the PIO role, using tools and resources, communicating effectively, preparing the community, and communicating an incident. The course takes approximately 2 ½ hours to complete. EMI awards 0.2 CEUs for completion of the course.
