Power Those Who Protect Us Update: Stories and Spokespeople Needed
Published Date: 02.23.2011
There has been great buzz surrounding the Power Those Who Protect Us program, the battery donation program from Duracell and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) that launched on February 1. Through the program, Duracell is donating over 10 million batteries to volunteer fire departments to help power life-saving equipment. Consumers can increase the battery donation to their local department by going to www.Duracell.com/protect, entering the donation code from their specially-marked Duracell packaging, and earmarking their donation to go to their local department.
Departments have shared many heroic stories and anecdotes on the program web site at www.Duracell.com/protect stemming from recent winter storms, and we appreciate all the contributions we’ve received. We applaud your dedication and sacrifices to your community during this stormy winter season. If you haven’t had a chance to share your stories and anecdotes, please do so by sending your story via email to DuracellFire@gmail.com. Your story may be featured on the Duracell page on Facebook page or for local media requests.
As we continue to generate awareness for the program across the country, we are also bringing the program’s attention to the Hispanic community, in efforts to reach even more people about how to support their local volunteer firefighters. In light of this, we are seeking fluent bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking volunteers who would be interested in helping spread the word about the program through Hispanic media outlets. If you are bilingual or know of someone who may be interested in learning about how they can help us promote the program, please let us know via email to DuracellFire@gmail.com.
Remember to check out Facebook.com/Duracell to stay up-to-date on the program. Consumers can direct donations through the Facebook page in addition to the program web site, Duracell.com/protect.
Thank you for your support and continue to let us know your comments and questions through DuracellFire@gmail.com.
