NVFC Executive Committee Meets

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) Executive Committee and staff leadership met on January 12-13, 2012, in Baltimore, MD. The 13-member committee operates and conducts the business and affairs of the NVFC between board meetings and meets in-person twice a year.

U.S. Fire Administrator Ernest Mitchell, Jr., met with the committee to talk about USFA and issues concerning the volunteer fire service. In addition, the NVFC signed a memorandum of understanding with the Firefighter Combat Challenge; more details of the partnership will be announced in the coming months.

The Executive Committee is comprised of the NVFC’s officers, four appointed members, and five elected members. Terms of office are two years. The 2011-2012 Executive Committee is as follows: Phillip C. Stittleburg (WI - Chair); Jeff Cash (NC - First Vice Chair); Jack Carriger (OR - Second Vice Chair); Allen Metheny (DE - Secretary/Treasurer); Bob Kilpeck (VT - liaison from NVFC Foundation), Ken Knipper (KY - liaison from EMS/Rescue Section); John Lyman (RI - liaison from Legislative Committee); Jerry Johnston (IA - liaison from NAEMT); Mike Bird (MA); Pat Hlavaty (TX); Suzie Hill Koklich (AK); Kevin Quinn (RI); and Bob Timko (PA).
