NVFC Board Receives Update on Duracell’s Power Those Who Protect Us Program
Published Date: 04.14.2011
Bob Jacobs, General Manager for Duracell, provided an update on the Power Those Who Protect Us partnership between the NVFC and Duracell during the NVFC spring board meeting. Through the program, Duracell is donating millions of batteries to volunteer fire departments across the country as well as conducting an outreach and awareness campaign to promote the volunteer fire services.
Jacobs announced that Duracell has increased its battery donation commitment from 10 million to 20 million batteries. He also said that the second phase of the program would launch soon with a special re-recording by Grammy Award-winning artist Cee Lo Green of his song “Forget You.” The new version is entitled “Thank You” and recognizes the critical and heroic work of the volunteer fire service.
Duracell has received over 500 stories so far from local fire departments sharing their experiences and the impact volunteers have on their community. They have also received an overwhelming response from the public, with thousands of comments coming in regarding the program.
The goals of the Power Those Who Protect Us program are to provide batteries to volunteer fire departments to help power communication devices and life-saving equipment and to raise awareness about the needs of the volunteer fire service. The program can also serve as a catalyst for local departments’ fundraising efforts.
Consumers can go a step further to provide even more batteries for their local department. When consumers purchase specially-marked CopperTop battery packs, they can go to www.duracell.com/protect, enter the donation code on their packaging, and designate their local department to receive the battery donation from their purchase.
