There is still time to register for the National Junior Firefighter Academy, which will be held at Firehouse Expo in Baltimore, MD from 9am-12pm on Saturday, July 23. The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) has partnered with Firehouse Expo, Spartan Motors, Inc., and California Casualty to offer the Academy to junior firefighters and junior firefighter program advisors. Register today!
Junior firefighter programs are a great recruitment tool for fire departments, fostering the next generation of first responders and emergency service supporters. Youth participants also learn important life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, leadership, and more. The National Junior Firefighter Academy helps both departments and junior firefighters get the most out of a junior firefighter program and expand their initiatives.
The session for junior firefighters, open to youth ages 13-18, covers topics including youth leadership, future paths in the fire service, and youth-led activity ideas. Junior firefighter program advisors will learn about serving as a youth mentor, junior member standards, activity ideas, and more.
Registration is only $15, and all participants will receive a certificate of participation and a t-shirt. Junior firefighters who attend will also receive a complimentary one-year Junior Membership to the NVFC, valued at $12.
Space is limited, so register now at http://firehouseexpo.com/events_nvfc.html.
NVFC members (including Junior Members) receive a discount to Firehouse Expo. Visit http://firehouseexpo.com/events_nvfc.html to learn more about Firehouse Expo 2011 and the NVFC member discount. Find out more about the National Junior Firefighter Program at www.nvfc.org/juniors.
