Firefighter Injury Report Released from Incident Involving Large Diameter Hose Appliance Failure

A volunteer firefighter was injured in July 2009 when she was struck by pieces of a large diameter hose appliance after it failed catastrophically. The New Jersey Division of Fire Safety has issued an injury report from the incident that includes key issues that must be addressed and remedies that should be implemented within all departments, results of the investigation, analysis, and lessons learned from the incident. Firefighter injury and casualty investigations are extremely important for the fire service as they may help to prevent the future occurrence of death or serious injury under similar circumstances.
