Fire PPE Symposium to be held May 2-4

The second Fire PPE Symposium will be held in Charlotte, NC, on May 2-4. This biennial event, sponsored by the Fire Industry Equipment Research Organization, features a series of presentations about the PPE that most firefighters use on a daily basis.
The symposium is designed for members of the emergency service community, including firefighters, training officers, safety officers, purchasing/supply officers, chief officers, board members, and elected officials. Topics that will be covered during the symposium include:
- PPE design, performance, and limitations
- PPE testing and certification
- Selecting and purchasing PPE
- Using PPE
- Storing, cleaning, repairing, and sizing PPE
- PPE interfaces
- Emerging PPE trends
- Retiring PPE
- Managing a PPE program
- Legal issues involving PPE
