Draft of New NFPA Standard for Traffic Control Incident Management Professional Qualifications Posted for Comment

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has posted a draft of a new Standard for Traffic Control Incident Management Professional Qualifications (1091) that will be open for public comment until January 4, 2013. The document is a working draft that was produced by the Committee on Traffic Control Incident Management Professional Qualifications, which National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) Washington Director T.J. Nedrow serves on.

“I encourage everyone in the emergency services to review this document and send their comments to the Committee,” said Nedrow, who also represents the NVFC on the National Traffic Incident Management Coalition (NTIMC). “I believe that this standard, once implemented, will substantially improve responder safety and operational efficiencies and ultimately save lives.  Because the standard is brand new, it is critical that we get as much input as possible from a wide array of stakeholders.”
