Capitol Hill Day 2011 Will Take Place in March to Raise Campus Fire Safety Awareness

Campus Firewatch, the Congressional Fire Services Institute, Ohio Fire Safety Coalition, and the Michael H. Minger Foundation are hosting the annual campus fire safety Capitol Hill Day on March 21-22. The event brings together students, parents, fire safety advocates, and fire officials to meet with Congressional staffers about campus fire safety legislation and get the Senator’s or Representative’s support. The National Volunteer Fire Council is among the organization’s that participate in the event.
Capitol Hill Day starts on March 21 with an educational session and a mandatory briefing. The visits to Congressional offices take place on March 22. Legislation that will be targeted this year include the Stephanie Tubbs Jones College Fire Prevention Act, the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act, and the Campus Fire Safety Education Act.
