Attend Webinar on Transitioning from a Volunteer to Combination Department
Published Date: 07.21.2011
The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) will be hosting a live webinar on Thursday, August 4, at 2:00pm Eastern, discussing the challenges of transitioning from a volunteer to a combination department. Many departments across the nation are dealing with the transition process. This webinar will help departments navigate personnel issues, leadership, and best practices.
The webinar will be hosted by Chief Keith Bost from Sherrills Ford - Terrell Fire & Rescue in North Carolina. Chief Bost oversaw the transition of his department from a volunteer organization that ran out of one station and responded to less than 100 calls a year to a combination department running out of four stations with 15 full-time, seven part-time, and 40 volunteers responding to approximately 1,000 calls annually.
