Line of Duty

The NVFC mourns the loss of volunteer and career firefighters nationwide. Firefighting continues to be one of the nation’s most hazardous professions, and each year firefighters are killed or permanently injured in the line-of-duty. These tragedies have long-lasting consequences for the families, departments, and the fire service as a whole.

The NVFC is here to support those dealing with a line-of-duty loss and to help departments, personnel, and families be prepared in case the worst happens. This includes fighting for legislation that supports first responders and the Public Safety Officers' Benefits Program, providing an Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance policy to NVFC members, and providing resources such as a guide for conducting firefighter funerals.

The NVFC is working to prevent future LODD tragedies by focusing on health and safety in the fire service and providing tools, resources, and training to departments, personnel, and family to mitigate risk and protect our nation’s first responders.
