Registering with 1-800-FIRE-LINE

If your state is not currently registered with 1-800-FIRE-LINE, you may follow these three simple steps to connect to the toll-free recruitment number:

Step 1: Identify State Fire/EMS Organization to Host 1-800-FIRE-LINE

The first step in implementing 1-800-FIRE-LINE is to determine which state fire/EMS organization will be responsible for coordinating 1-800-FIRE-LINE. This may be the state fire marshal’s office, the state firefighters or fire chiefs association, a statewide fire training organization/center, the state fire program office, the state EMS office, a state Fire Corps office, or any other statewide association representing the interests of the fire/EMS services.

Step 2: Establish a Fire Line Coordinator within the Host Organization

Establish a Fire Line Coordinator and answering point for 1-800-FIRE-LINE. The coordinator should be affiliated with the statewide organization chosen in the first step, and the answering point could be the central office for that organization. The Coordinator will make sure that calls to 1-800-FIRE-LINE are forwarded to the appropriate place.

Step 3: Complete the State Registration Form

Once you have decided what organization and individual within that organization will be responsible for administering 1-800-FIRE-LINE, complete the  State Registration Form and return it to Fire Corps. Fire Corps will then register your 1-800-FIRE-LINE information with AT&T, the official 1-800-FIRE-LINE carrier. Phone calls to 1-800-FIRE-LINE can be directed to any new or existing local phone number within the organization.
